Step-by-Step Instructions

Log in to Ancestry

Visit ancestry.com and sign in to your account with your email and password.

Go to Ancestry login

Go to DNA Settings

Click on "DNA" in the top navigation, then click on "Settings" (gear icon) or navigate to your DNA homepage and find the settings option.

Find "Download Raw DNA Data"

In the Settings menu, look for "Download Raw DNA Data" or scroll to find the "Actions" section with a download option.

Confirm your identity

Ancestry will ask you to re-enter your password and possibly complete a verification step for security.

Request and download

Click to request your download. Ancestry will prepare the file and either give you a direct download link or email you when it's ready.

Note: The download creates a .zip file containing your raw DNA data in .txt format.

Upload to DNArcade

Once downloaded, go to DNArcade's upload page and drop your file in. We'll automatically detect that it's from AncestryDNA.

Pro Tips

  • AncestryDNA typically provides around 700,000+ SNPs in their raw data file.
  • Make sure you download "Raw DNA Data" not just a PDF report.
  • The file name will include "AncestryDNA" to help you identify it.
  • If you manage multiple kits, ensure you're downloading data for the correct person.

Privacy Protected

Remember: DNArcade never stores your raw DNA file. It's processed securely and deleted immediately. Only your fun character stats are saved.
